NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Brock Bowers has broken Mike Ditka’s 1961 record for yards receiving by a rookie tight end. Drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders 13th overall out of Georgia, Bowers eclipsed Ditka’s mark of 1,076 yards when he made a 13-yard catch late in the second quarter on Sunday against New Orleans.

The NFL regular season is nearing its end and multiple teams that have not made the playoffs have concluded their 2024 campaigns. Amongst those teams are the Las Vegas Raiders, who finished the year 4-13. While Las Vegas' 2024 season was one to forget, one player in the Silver and Black had a season to remember.

In the third quarter, Bowers broke the NFL record for receptions in a rookie season, surpassing the mark of 105 catches set by Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua last season. Later in the quarter, he surpassed Darren Waller’s franchise record for most receptions in a season with his 108th catch.

Raiders phenomenal rookie TE Brock Bowers was already named to the AFC Pro Bowl team, in what we knew would be the first of many nods of recognition for him. Wednesday it was the NFLPA’s turn. They released their third-annual Players All Pro team and Bowers made the squad.
