U.S. rules that will limit some American investing into sensitive technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) in China are imminent, with a federal government update in the last review stage.

The proposals are part of the Joe Biden administration's efforts to restrict the flow of U.S. capital, technology and expertise into China.

The rules specifically target outbound investments to China in AI, semiconductors, microelectronics, and quantum computing.
