India's Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve of the BRICS summit that he wanted peace in Ukraine and that New Delhi was ready to help achieve a truce to end Europe's deadliest conflict since World War Two.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan where discussions covered a range of bilateral and global issues.

The two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including political, economic, defence, energy, and people-to-people ties.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he wanted the Ukraine conflict to be resolved "quickly" and peacefully as he met President Vladimir Putin at a summit of major emerging economies

"We fully support the early establishment of peace and stability. All our efforts give priority to humanity," PM Modi said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan for a bilateral meeting on October 22 and said India believes that Ukraine conflict should be resolved in a peaceful manner and is ready to provide all possible cooperation.

This is their second bilateral meeting since the July 8-9 summit in Moscow. He said his second visit to Russia in the last three months reflected “close coordination and deep friendship” between the two countries.

PM Modi and President Putin emphasized peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict during their bilateral meeting. Modi highlighted India's ongoing diplomatic efforts and the humanitarian priority while Putin acknowledged the strategic partnership.
