On Monday, chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) unveiled its latest high-end smartphone SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which boasts a new Oryon CPU and enhanced AI capabilitie. What Happened: The Snapdragon 8 Elite replaces the Kryo CPUs previously used in Qualcomm’s mobile chipsets.

Next year's top Android phones will have even better AI capabilities, low-light camera performance and be able to last longer when playing games. At its Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, Qualcomm revealed the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the next generation of chips that will power the best phones from Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus and more manufacturers.

Qualcomm said on Monday it is bringing technology first developed for its laptop chips to its mobile phone chips, aiming to make them more powerful for generative AI tasks.
