Snow guns are blowing, temperatures are dropping and skiers and riders caught a first glimpse of winter in Colorado last weekend.

The first significant snow of the season for the mountains has delivered some respectable snow totals over the weekend into Monday morning.

The following Colorado snow totals have been reported by the National Weather Service for Oct. 19, 2024, as of 9:30 a.m. Saturday: Aspen Park, CO — 3 inches at 7 a.m. MDT

Ski resorts and ski areas are beginning to make snow for the season, and Mother Nature is helping out and bringing snow from the sky as well.

The high country will be getting a taste of winter this weekend, potentially seeing as much as 2 feet of snow in some of our southern mountains.

High temperatures are expected to be in the 70s for much of the week in the Denver area. But a cold front next week will also bring much cooler temperatures and our first chance of rain in about a week.

Snow has finally made it onto slopes from Silverton to Steamboat, including in Summit, Grand and Eagle counties, after a three-day winter storm piled up multiple feet.
