US Flu Rate at or Near Highest Level in Over 15 Years, CDC Says
There have been at least 24 million illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations and 13,000 deaths from flu so far this season, according to the CDC. The agency said in its weekly flu surveillance report that seasonal influenza activity continues to increase across the country.
Schools in at least two states canceled classes at the start of this week amid a surge in influenza cases nationwide.
More than 156 million chickens, ducks, turkeys and other fowl have been slaughtered across the United States since the outbreak began in January 2022. One person has been killed.
