Penn State is not playing in the national championship game against Ohio State on Jan. 20 in Atlanta. Notre Dame sent the Allar and his Nittany Lions’ teammates home in the semifinal round on Thursday night in the Orange Bowl, beating PSU 27-24 on a last-second field goal.

Drew Allar made perhaps the costliest mistake of his football career when he was intercepted by Notre Dame cornerback Christian Gray in Thursday's Orange Bowl loss. Under pressure, Allar threw the football across the field over the middle,

“It was a huge mistake by Drew Allar,” commentator Greg McElroy said. “Works all the way back and you can never throw a line over the middle, it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are. You want to make a play for your team, but you cannot throw it blind from that far away.’
