Another night, and another round of emotions while dealing with the NHL’s greatest, or worst, mystery box — goaltender interference.
Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves, and Simon Holmstrom scored a goal and added two assists as the Isles used their biggest third period outburst since March 2023 to earn a 5-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche before a crowd of 15,735 at UBS Arena.
The 5-10, 175-pound Perunovich logged 18:52 and was a plus-2 with two shots, earning enough of Roy’s trust to play key shifts in the third period. Tony DeAngelo, signed out of the KHL on Friday, played 22:11 with two blocked shots as he also earned his first point as an Islander with an assist in his second game.
The New York Islanders (22-20-7) dug deep. They won their fifth game in a row, closing out a very successful homestand with an emphatic third period against the Colorado Avalanche (29-21-2). The Islanders are alive after being declared dead in the water multiple times.

Holmstrom finished the night with three points, improving his season totals to 11 goals, 15 assists, and 26 points in 42 games. UP NEXT: The Islanders head on the road Thursday at 7:30 PM ET against the Philadelphia Flyers.
