As the January 2025 wildfires continued to burn in Los Angeles, a rumor circulated online that one of the blazes destroyed actor, comedian and television host Whoopi Goldberg's California mansion. A website called Esspots.com published the claim in an article (archived) on Jan. 10. It began:
Whoopi Goldberg wants people to stop “pointing fingers” and assigning blame for the deadly LA fires. On Monday’s episode of “The View,” the Oscar-winner, 69, said that last week’s hurricane-force winds that blew throughout Southern California are responsible for sparking the flames that have wreaked havoc across Los Angeles County.
I tried marriage, and it wasn’t for me. You can’t be in a marriage because everybody’s expecting you to,' Goldberg previously said.
Celebrities were among those who lost their homes in wildfires still burning in greater Los Angeles. But claims that ABC’s "The View" cohost Whoopi Goldberg’s house was destroyed originated on a self-described satire site.
Goldberg was the face of the luxury brand’s fall/winter 2024 campaign and showed her support by attending the fashion show. “A beautiful night in Paris. Thank you @amiparis and @alexandremattiussi9,” she wrote on Instagram afterward.
Goldberg made her very first Paris Fashion Week show. She recently posed for a campaign with Ami, and was named a house ambassador last November.
I stand behind her. If I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform someplace, I believe they have the same right,” Goldberg said.
Whoopi Goldberg has now been missing from The View since Tuesday (Jan. 21), and we’re feeling her absence. While we love Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro, it simply isn’t the same without our trusty moderator!
