Nearly 2,000 Indigenous people from the southwest of Colombia arrived in Cali on Monday in their traditional ‘chivas’, colourful vehicles with open tops advocating for nature to be respected as they participated in COP16.

During this month's U.N. Biodiversity Summit, known as COP16, in the Colombian city of Cali, nearly 200 countries will be debating how they can save nature from the current rapid rate of destruction.

The 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16) called for participation of indigenous communities and governments around the world to the efforts of biodiversity protection.
