DENVER (KKTV) - Denver Police has new information on the capture of a double-homicide suspect, who it says also opened fire on one of its officers. The officer had responded to the 7-Eleven at 35th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard around midnight Monday after hearing gunfire in the area, later revealed to be a shootout between two groups.

Police officers in Denver arrested two suspects linked to a deadly shooting early Monday morning. Officers said they heard the shooting near 35th and Colorado Boulevard in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven just after midnight.

That suspect, Fabian Vasquez, 19, is being held on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Police said their investigation found Vasquez shot the two victims. He was taken to a hospital due to a bite wound from a police dog during his arrest and for prolonged exposure to the cold.
