As Cyclone ‘Dana’ approaches the Odisha coast, threatening nearly half of the state’s population, the government is urgently working to implement a large-scale evacuation plan to relocate around 1 million people across 14 districts to safer areas.

As Odisha and West Bengal brace for Cyclone Dana, which will likely make landfall in Odisha's Puri and West Bengal's Sagar Island during Thursday night and Friday, both states have started evacuating people from areas likely to be affected by the cyclone.
