This means that more than 100 million adults have obesity, and more than 22 million adults have severe obesity.

What was the prevalence of obesity in adults during August 2021–August 2023? The prevalence of obesity among adults was 40.3% during August 2021–August 2023 (Figure 1, Table 1). The prevalence was 39.2% in men and 41.3% in women. No significant differences between men and women were seen overall or in any age group. Figure 1.
