Nov 27, 2015 · Truck Rental company know the "Flow/Direction" of there needs. Traffic is seasonal, but People have been moving out of NY and going South for decades. They often have to deadhead truck from over (Truck) populated area to where they need them. That cost them money for drivers, fuel etc, So that how they pay for that.

Jun 21, 2013 · The truck will be fully loaded so I'm estimating it will only be taken up to 50-55 max speed. The gas tank is a 50 gallon diesel tank. Penske says it does 10 mpg but other websites have said 4, 6, 8, etc which leaves me unsure of how much to budget for gas. Current diesel prices are around $3.841. Anyone done a drive like this before?

Jun 12, 2009 · Not sure about Penske but have seen some trucks around that had both the 1-7/8 and 2" ball depending on what the person is towing...small boat trailers a 1-7/8...a car using a tow bar and safety chain a 2" ball.

May 18, 2012 · That large of a rental truck is most likely going to be diesel only at any of the rental places. I believe U-Haul rents a 22' gas truck - not sure though. I know Penske's 22 and 26 are both diesel only. I can only speak from my own experience, but I moved cross country with a 16' Penske pulling a car trailer.

Jun 24, 2019 · The Penske truck doesn't have a GPS tracker it has an odometer. They record your mileage (along with how much fuel, and condition its in) before you leave. The difference in price isn't about mileage, IIRC its about their expected ability to rent the truck out again. You will get different prices to drop off in the same city.

Jan 31, 2010 · I'm looking at renting a Penske truck for a cross country move and like a lot of you have mentioned, it is cost effective to go with the 22ft diesel rather than the 16ft gas (Assuming the mpg is at least 30% better with diesel.) (I'm moving 2500 miles away!).

Sep 8, 2021 · The last 22 foot Penske truck (just a couple months ago) was a serviceable truck in good condition, but literally couldn’t maintain even 35 miles an hour going up big hills, and merging in areas with short on-ramps was a “floor it and hope for the best” situation.. and that truck wasn’t even loaded very heavy.
